In regards to the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes part # TH903202, the locks don't stop the knobs from turning. The knobs will turn whether they are locked or unlocked. The key stops the knob from engaging rather so you should feel a difference in tension when turning while locked and unlocked. The knob will have more tension when it's unlocked when compared to being locked.
If this does not answer your question then you may need to reach out to the bike rack manufacturer... view full answer...
I can help you remove this from your Swagman Original 2 Bike Rack. But since Swagman does not sell replacement stand alone keys, you will have to replace the entire locking knob. The ,Replacement Locking Knob for Swagman Original and XP Series Bike Carriers - 2009 and Newer, part # P1040, will replace the knob on your rack. In order to remove your existing lock, Swagman suggests to use a pair of needle nose plyers. On the backside of the locking knob attach the plyers around the threaded... view full answer...
I checked out the frame of your RadRover 6 e-bikes and the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric FAT PRO Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # LGA77FR that you are interested in would easily work well with it. The step thru bike frames like what you have were carefully considered when the cable and rest of this rack were designed as this is a very common frame design for e-bikes. Also the loop end of the lock setup would not be able to slide over the lock housing. view full answer...
I understand your concern and annoyance with the Swagman Original - 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2 fitting loosely in the hitch receiver and causing bounce/wobble. This can happen due to the fact that not every trailer hitch receiver is made to the exact same dimensions. Luckily, there is a perfect solution for this!
You will need to install the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman 2" Hitch Racks # S64027. Not only will this lock your bike rack to the receiver, but it will also... view full answer...
I reached out to Thule for additional help with your EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202. They recommended using the Universal Change Key # 853-1251 to remove the lock cylinder and ensure there is no damage in the handle and that it is properly aligned in the slot with no debris that would cause a malfunction.
If you find they are damaged or you can still not get them to work, we do have the Short Arm # 7525491002 and Long Arm # 1500052414 assemblies available. view full answer...
Since the lock itself is the issue the only way to really remove it would be to cut it off. You could try drilling out the lock to see it gets loose enough to remove from the hitch pin or you can take an angle grinder to the lock and cut it off. Either way you'll need a replacement so if you want another lock for your Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SA4025F you'll need part # SA3022. view full answer...
If you leave the hitch lock for the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S44FR on for too long or there has been dirt that has gotten inside the lock core then there is a possibility that the lock can get stuck. I recommend that you spray some lubricant around the head and then gently hit the head with a hammer to try and break it free while also turning the key back and forth. If all else fails then you will need to drill out the lock or cut off the head. This can then be replaced... view full answer...
The SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack # SR2415 has the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for SportRack Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SR0901 as you referenced as a related part. I have not heard about this not working on this rack before and that is the longest locking pin available for that rack, which makes me wonder if your trailer hitch receiver is uniquely wide. If so, you may want to consider using an adapter for the rack like Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches... view full answer...
Usually the locking knobs on racks will also require you to push (or pull) on them while turning to get them to engage with the internal release mechanism that loosens the rack. If the lock mechanism rusted/corroded while in the locked position it may not engage properly even if you turn the key to the "unlocked" position.
Applying a spray lubricant like WD40 or PB Blaster as you did is a good effort; sometimes these products can take a while to work. Often multiple applications are needed,... view full answer...
First you need to confirm that the key number matches the number of the lock cylinder that is on your Locking Quick-Release Skewer # RKY0190. If they are different we may have the replacement key that will fit your lock. If they are the same and the key will not turn you might first try putting some penetrating oil in the key cylinder to break the mechanism free if some water caused the internals in the lock cylinder to become rusted. If you are still not able to free the mechanism you... view full answer...
I made a short video with a basic overview of how to insert a lock and then lock the arms on a Thule T2 bike rack like # TH916XTR. If you have followed this method and the arms still moves freely when it should be locked then there is a problem inside the unit and the arm should be replaced. view full answer...
Since the Hitch Lock # HL2 does not fit snuggly inside the 2" receiver when using your Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack # BA22B, I recommend pushing the rack in tightly to your receiver before you tighten down on the anti-rattle knob. This will remove the excess play that is caused by the 1/2" hitch lock securing the bike rack in a 5/8" opening. view full answer...
That is a tricky one. It might be possible to get you a replacement key for your RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002. We would need to know the key number. This can be found usually on the key itself, or on the face of the lock core. RockyMounts key numbers usually start with the letter E, followed by 3 digits.
Other than that, there is no way to get it unlocked without keys. This is by design. Otherwise what good is the lock you know? In some cases we have removed lock cores by drilling... view full answer...
It sounds like you may have gotten some moisture inside your lock which has caused some corrosion and the unit is sticking. You will want to use some penetrating oil inside the lock cylinder to help free the mechanisms inside the lock cylinder so you will be able to get your key in to unlock the lock. view full answer...
If the Snug Tite Hitch Lock that is included in the Thule T2 Classic 2 Bike Rack, # TH9045, is seized and cannot be opened with the key, then the lock will have to be drilled out and may need to be hammered off the hitch to remove. The lock can be replaced with a new lock, # THSTL2.
It is recommend that when not in use, remove both the rack and the lock pin. This will keep the winter weather elements from corroding rack components and harming the lock cylinder of the hitch pin. view full answer...
To loosen the locking mechanism on your Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount Item # TH903202 you'll want to spray some silicon spray or graphite dust into the lock and try working the key in and out and side to side carefully to avoid breaking the key. I recommend the silicon spray and graphite dust over WD40 as it will usually lead to a build up of grime over time whereas the silicon spray or graphite dust will not. view full answer...
The clamps on the Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack # TH302043 should only click when you are turning the locking knob clockwise to tighten them and they are fully secured to your bike frame. Then when you lock them they will spin freely.
If you are turning the knobs clockwise then that would be the reason why the jaws aren't opening. If, however, you're turning the knobs counter-clockwise and while they are unlocked and you're getting that clicking sound then that sounds like a warranty... view full answer...
If the lock core wants to come out of the knob then that would indicate that the knob is broken on your Swagman bike rack or that the screw on the back side of the knob has comes loose. Make sure that screw isn't missing or loose.
For a replacement knob the part # P1040 would be the correct part number. view full answer...
What might be happening with your Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for SportRack Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # SR0901 is that your hitch receiver might be too thick which is not allowing you to get the lock on enough of the threaded pin to lock it.
You can test this out by uninstalling the threaded hitch pin (if it is installed) and trying to install the locking mechanism onto the pin. If it attaches then you know that your hitch receiver it too think and you will not be able to use the locking... view full answer...
If your Yakima 4 bike rack uses the same key system you can use the Control Key # Y8007835 to remove the lock core as long as the lock is not locked. If the lock is locked you will need to visit a locksmith to have the cylinder unlocked before you can remove the core. Once the core is removed you will be able to find the key number on the side of the core like you see on Core # Y8771-A139. Once you have this I can help you locate the correct key or a new core and key if the one you have... view full answer...
